How to become a Host Family?
The very essence of the Ulster Project Delaware mission and its continued success rests with families who share the commitment to reach out and participate by opening their homes and families to a Northern Irish teen during the month of July. The rewards and benefits of one’s dedication of self, daily time commitment, and participation in the family events are deep and lifelong, not only for the teens involved, but for all members of participating families.
1. Catholic and Protestant families having a teenager at least 14 years of age (prior to June 1 of the participating year) and no older than 16 years of age and having finished 9th grade.
2. There must be a family buy-in for the month of July to provide transportation needs (individual as well as carpooling) for your guest teen and to participate as a family in all scheduled family activities.
CURRENT HOST TEEN/FAMILY RECRUITMENT PROCESS
UPD is currently soliciting candidates and their families for the UPD 2017 program. We will select 18 teens (9 boys, 9 girls), and 4 additional families to host adult leaders. Each application is thoroughly reviewed followed by a family/teen interview. Each teen will participate in an interview. This is an opportunity for the teen to sell oneself to the selection committee. As soon as Banbridge, Northern Ireland completes their teen selection process the American teens are then selected and matched with each of the Northern Irish teens according to individual likes and shared interests.
